Task Manager
The Task Manager is your central, detailed view of all contractual obligations and tasks in the Affinitext Platform. Tasks are created and pinned at the clause from which the obligation arises, providing a direct link between the obligation and the contract text.
See it in action:
Watch how AffiniTask lets you tag obligations and entitlements at clause level, turning contract commitments into tracked, assignable tasks β each linked back to its source clause.
πΉ Video Note: This training video uses the legacy term "IDF" which has been renamed to "AffiniCore" in our March 2026 update. The functionality and features shown remain unchangedβonly the terminology has been updated throughout this help center.

For step-by-step guidance, continue reading below.
1 Creating a task
To create a task, highlight the relevant section of the clause. A floating menu appears β select Tasks.
Complete the following fields in the task editor:
Task editor β Subject, Description, Target Date, Recurrence, Category, Priority, Assignee, Verifier, and Collaborators fields
- Subject β a clear, descriptive title for the obligation
- Description β instructions for completing the task
- Target date β the date by which the task must be completed
- Recurrence β if the obligation repeats, use the Recurrence button to set the frequency and end date
- Category β classify the task type for filtering purposes
- Priority β set the urgency level of the task
2 Task roles
Each task has three roles:
- Assignee β the person responsible for completing the task. When the task is saved, the assignee receives an email notification with all relevant details and a link to the clause. They receive further notifications as the target date approaches.
- Verifier (optional) β reviews the task once the assignee marks it complete. The verifier is notified of the task details and due date when the task is set up.
- Collaborators β users or user groups who have oversight of the task but do not perform it.
Select users for each role from the list of users in your shared user group.
3 Notifications
The assignee receives email notifications at intervals leading up to the target date, and on the date itself. The verifier is notified when the assignee completes the task. See Email notifications for full details.
4 Accessing tasks
Tasks are accessible in three ways:
- At the clause β a task icon appears next to the clause once a task is saved. Click it to open the task directly
Task Managerβ Tasks are pinned to clauses for easy audit and reference.
- Task tab β from the bar at the top of the Table of Contents, select the Tasks tab to view all tasks in the current book
- Task dropdown on the Platform homepage β access the full Task Report. Select My Work List to see tasks where you are assignee or verifier, or All Tasks to see all tasks you have permission to view
Task tab above the Table of Contents β all tasks in the current book
Task dropdown on the Platform homepage β My Work List and All Tasks options
5 Filtering tasks
In the Task Report, use the column heading filters to narrow results by task category, priority, due date, assignee, or any other column. This is particularly useful for viewing all tasks coming up within a specific period, or all tasks under a particular category.

6 Completing and verifying tasks
When a task is complete, the assignee opens the task and clicks Complete. They can add completion notes and attach supporting documents β capturing the work product directly against the clause to which the task relates.

If a verifier is assigned, the verifier receives a notification and can either:
- Click Verify β to confirm the task has been completed satisfactorily
- Click Reopen β if the task has not been completed to their satisfaction, which sends an email notification back to the assignee
Verify and Reopen buttons for the verifier
